When to Book RV Storage: Timing Tips to Save Money
Like many things in life, timing is everything when it comes to RV storage. Book at the right time and you could save hundreds of dollars a year. Book at the wrong time and you might not even find availability.
The RV Storage Calendar
September–November (Fall): This is peak booking season. RV owners are wrapping up their summer travels and looking for winter storage. Facilities fill up fast, and prices are at their highest. If you need winter storage, start looking in August.
December–February (Winter): Most spots are taken, but some facilities offer mid-season discounts to fill remaining vacancies. It's worth asking about move-in specials.
March–May (Spring): As RVers pull their rigs out for summer, spots open up. This is a great time to negotiate rates, as facilities want to fill the gaps quickly.
June–August (Summer): Lowest occupancy at many facilities. If you store year-round, this is your best leverage point for negotiating a lower annual rate.
Negotiation Tips
Many RV owners don't realize that storage rates are often negotiable. Facilities would rather have a full lot at a slightly lower rate than empty spots. Ask about long-term discounts (6 or 12 months prepaid), referral credits, military/first responder discounts, and loyalty pricing for returning customers.
